Education Dr. Theodosis Theodosiou holds a Diploma (2004) and a PhD (2010) in Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Patras, with specialization in computational nanomechanics and multiscale modeling, as well as a Master’s Degree in Information Systems (2016) from the Hellenic Open University.
Professional / Research / Academic Experience He worked as a Research Engineer (2004–2010) and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (2010–2019) at the Laboratory of Engineering Mechanics and Vibrations, Department of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering, University of Patras. He has participated in several research projects funded by national and European programs (FP6, FP7, CleanSky JTI, etc.). In 2018, he was elected Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Technological Education) of the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaly. In May 2019, he became a Faculty Member of the General Department (Larissa) of the University of Thessaly. In December 2019, he was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Energy Systems of the University of Thessaly. In 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with the subject area “Computational Methods for the Analysis and Design of Materials, Structures, and Constructions.”
Teaching Experience He has taught courses in Informatics and the Finite Element Method at the University of Patras as an external collaborator and as a contracted lecturer (Presidential Decree 407/80). At the University of Thessaly, he has been assigned the teaching and/or examination of the following courses: 1. Technical Drawing (Department of Energy Systems, 1st semester), 2. Automatic Control Systems (Department of Energy Systems, 4th semester), 3. Numerical Analysis of Structures and Energy Systems (Department of Energy Systems, 5th semester), 4. Finite Elements in Structures (Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, Technological Education, 6th semester), 5. Steel Structures (Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, Technological Education, 7th semester), 6. Advanced Topics in Sensor Technology (Department of Energy Systems, 8th semester).
Publications He has authored more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals, internationally recognized conferences, and edited volumes in the fields of nanotechnology, computational mechanics, and informatics. He has published a book on structural design, which is approved as a teaching textbook for Higher Education Institutions in Greece.
Administrative Experience Since his appointment at the University of Thessaly, he has participated in more than 60 committees related to personnel evaluation, curriculum reform, research project management, etc. Since November 2021, he has been appointed Rapporteur for Academic Affairs of the Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering (Technological Education) of the former TEI of Thessaly. Since October 2023, he has been a member of the Technical Council of the University of Thessaly. He has been elected Chair of the Department of Energy Systems, with a term from 1/9/2025 to 31/9/2028.
